Daytona Beach interested in Familial DNA search: serial killer case

Daytona Beach has expressed interest in joining Colorado, California and Virginia in using familial DNA searching to find a serial killer. The killer left DNA at two crime scenes, but that DNA profile does not match any profile in the Florida or National DNA databases.

"Morrissey, the Denver district attorney, said he would bring the software here and install it at no cost for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. However, the state agency is looking at several options "across the board" when it comes to familial DNA searches, said FDLE spokeswoman Heather Smith on Monday. "
